На поиски Метрополиса.

Владелец Пайпер Каба рассказал мне что есть в Неваде город где можно совершить посадку на главную улицу. Дал координаты. Поехали! Мимо уже знакомых Локомотивных Ручьёв...

... с короткой остановкой в Джекпот (06U Jackpot NV) где единственным видом дохода является казино...

Аэродромная будка была на замке, телефон не отвечал, пришлось сходить за угол прямо у камеры.

Жмём дальше. Вон в той долине должен быть город призрак Метрополис. Ветрище силы неимоверной, вряд ли смогу приземлиться вне аэродрома.

А вот и руины. Городок планировался в начале 1900-ых.

Из-за перенаселения не хватало воды, фермеры стали уезжать. В 30ые годы всё опустело.

Сделав пару виражей для фотографирования, я направился к Колодцам (KLWL Wells) дозаправиться.

Оставалось еще пару часов светового дня и я завернул на спидвэй.

To expand on this photo that Vlad posted last week at Hurricane Mesa, Ut, that long thing that looks like a runway is a rocket sled test track used during the 1950's and 60's. Please read the attached wiki for information. I flew over this site in 1983 enroute to install a helicopter engine in Fillmore, Ut. Гонки внедорожников. На втором заходе я дал ему выиграть.

Надо где-то присесть, отдышаться. Похоже мне туда...

Превышение 2500 метров. Прохладно.

Проветрился минут 20 побродил по лесу. Потом полетел искать полосу у Мексиканской горы. Не нашел.

Чуть не потерялся по дороге домой. Хорошо хоть знаки свежепокрашенные.

Хлопцы жгут выборные бюллетени. Хороший ориентир при входе в нужный каньон.

We use them now. Most appear to have be taken down and re-installed at airports for night flying.

We have a such beacon nearby. Very nice place to go for barbecue lunch, just 20 minutes from my airport.
